Local Leadership to Local Ownership – An Essential Element for Effective Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention

This is a short policy note explaining some of the core issues surrounding the concepts of local ownership and local leadership in peacebuilding and peacemaking processes. The note covers three key questions: Why is local ownership important for peace?; What is ‘Local Ownership’ and ‘Local Leadership’ in the context of peacebuilding?; and Why is local ownership hard to foster and enable?
